THE DIFFERENTIATOR
The Chasing Blue
Expedition Concept
Intense 3–4 hours battling Bluefin from 400hp tournament-grade fishing vessels built for offshore hunting. Eat, rest, recharge on your private Humilitas yacht. Go again. This is Mediterranean offshore fishing without compromises — and there is nothing else like it. We depart from Cambrils and L'Hospitalet de l'Infant on the Costa Daurada.
The adrenaline
HUNT
You're offshore in a tournament-grade attack vessel built for one thing. Your captain runs the latest in electronics, dual-screen chartplotter and fishfinder, live open radar, a full birdwatching setup to read the water surface for feeding activity. When the birds work, the fish are below. Multiple rod holders, live bait wells, popping and jigging gear ready to deploy. Every decision is tactical.
This is not recreational fishing — it's a chase, and the technology on board gives you every advantage the Mediterranean allows.
The mothership
BASE
The Yachts of the Humilitas Fleet will be waiting when you return. Hot shower, dry clothes, and a prepared meal from the on-board galley — your crew handles everything while you decompress. The jacuzzi is on deck. There are private cabins if you need to sleep properly or do some work between sessions.
This is the part of the expedition most fishing operations cannot offer: a full reset, not a rest on a hard seat. You come back to the water fed, dry, and focused. The quality of your second session depends entirely on how well you recover from your first.
The DESIRE
REPEAT
The second run goes out with adjusted intelligence. Your captain has been reading conditions since dawn — bait movement, current lines, bird patterns, surface temperature breaks. The strategy for session two is not the same as session one. Fresh energy from a proper rest, updated targeting, and the same full-spec fishing vessel under your feet.
Multi-day expeditions compound this advantage: each morning you depart with more local knowledge than the day before. The fish don't adapt faster than your captain does.

A day on expedition
Dawn to Dusk.
Chase to Rest.
Repeat.
Every expedition day is structured around the fish, the conditions, and your energy. The timeline below is a guide — your captain reads the water and adapts as the day unfolds. No two days are the same.

DAWN
OVERNIGHT
OPTIONAL FOR MULTI-DAY EXCURSIONS
On multi-day expeditions, you stay overnight in harbour along the Costa Daurada or Ebro Delta coastline. The fleet is restocked, gear is serviced and re-rigged, and your captain updates tomorrow's plan based on what you found today and the overnight forecast. Sleep aboard in your private cabin or head ashore — your crew handles everything. At dawn, the briefing starts again.
CHASE
3-4 HOURS
Second run with updated intelligence. Your captain has spent the base period reviewing what the first session produced — where the fish were holding, what technique worked, how the current shifted. Session two is not a repeat of session one. It is a refined version of it. On multi-day expeditions this advantage compounds further: each morning you depart with more accumulated local knowledge than any day-charter guest will ever have. The fish don't adapt faster than your captain does.
return
2-3 HOURS
Back to the Humilitas. You step off the fishing vessel onto a 20-metre yacht with a full crew waiting. Hot shower in a private cabin. Fresh kit. A prepared meal from the galley — your crew planned and cooked it while you were offshore. Jacuzzi on deck if you want it. Sleep if you need it. There is no rush, no timeline, and no compromise. This is the reset that makes a second session possible at full intensity. A standard day charter cannot offer this. This is the point.
CHASE
3 -4 HOURS
You're offshore in a tournament-grade attack vessel. Your captain runs live radar, dual-screen electronics, and a full birdwatching setup — when surface feeding activity shows, the fish are below and the vessel is already moving. Gear is pre-rigged for the conditions. Live bait wells loaded. Rod holders full. The captain makes every tactical call — where to position, when to switch technique, when to move. Your job is to fish hard. Targeting Bluefin Tuna, Leerfish or Dorado depending on season and conditions off the Costa Daurada.
DAWN
06:00
Briefing aboard the mothership before departure. Your captain walks through overnight conditions, current readings, surface temperature breaks, and the target species for the session. You'll cover what the bait situation looks like, whether the conditions favour live bait, popping or jigging, and where on the coast you're heading. Departure in 20 minutes. This is not a safety briefing — it's a tactical one.

The Expedition Model
The Chasing Blue expedition is a unique proposition in Mediterranean offshore fishing. Unlike conventional day charters, the expedition model pairs two vessels: a high-performance tournament fishing platform equipped with professional-grade tackle systems, live radar, and electronics-assisted fish finding — alongside a 20-metre luxury mothership providing private cabins, chef-prepared meals, and full crew service. This dual-vessel approach redefines what offshore fishing can be. You hunt from the attack vessel while your base camp operates from a nearby anchorage, offering rapid turnaround, hot showers, and complete recovery between sessions. Departing from Cambrils and L'Hospitalet de l'Infant on the Costa Daurada, every expedition is custom-built around your group size, target species, and preferred dates.
Bluefin Tuna and Target Species
Bluefin tuna is the primary target for most Chasing Blue expeditions, particularly during the migratory season when large pelagics transit Spanish and Catalan waters. Methods vary by conditions and season: live bait fishing from drift positions, high-speed popping with topwater lures, and jigging on deep offshore structures. Leerfish, Dorado and Amberjack provide alternative targets throughout the season, with the flexibility to adjust strategy based on what the fish are feeding on and where they are holding. Your IGFA-certified captain reads tide tables, weather windows, and water temperature breaks — then selects the grounds and tactics that give you the best chance. The fishing day is structured around intensity and recovery: 3–4 hour morning sessions, reset and refuel aboard the Humilitas, then 3–4 hours again in the afternoon.
Luxury at Sea — The Humilitas Fleet
What separates a Chasing Blue expedition from a standard fishing charter is the combination of tournament-grade capability with full luxury hospitality. The Humilitas II is a 20.7-metre Sirena with twin 850hp CAT diesel engines, jacuzzi, chef's galley, multiple deck levels, and private cabins for up to 14 guests. Humilitas I provides the same expedition base camp function for smaller groups of up to 8. Both vessels operate out of Cambrils on the Costa Daurada and are crewed full-time. The mothership is not an afterthought — it is half the expedition. Without it, you are on a day charter. With it, you are running a multi-day offshore operation with full logistical support.
Planning Your Expedition
Chasing Blue expeditions depart from Cambrils and L'Hospitalet de l'Infant, with immediate access to productive Mediterranean offshore grounds — including the Ebro Delta systems to the south and open water structures to the east. The season runs year-round, with peak Bluefin activity from May through September and alternative species available through autumn and winter. Expeditions are available for groups of 2–14 guests. Pricing is on application and itineraries are built to order. Submit an enquiry and your captain will be in touch within 24 hours.
