When a school comes up in a feeding frenzy, the window is brief and the casts need to be on target immediately. Any wobbler or sinking stickbait will draw followers; the problem is getting the bite. The initial run on strike is among the fastest you will experience on spinning tackle — reels heat up, drags howl, and fish that look small in the water fight entirely out of proportion to their size. Season runs April through November, sometimes extending into December when water temperatures stay high.
